NEW ORLEANS, LA, May 14, 2009 /Louisiana PR News/ -- BECA gallery is pleased to present its Summer 2009 exhibition titled: '12 x 12 x 122' from June 6 - July 3, 2009.
In an unusual twist on what appears to be a traditional, if not somewhat restrictive Call to Artists, BECA gallery will present '12 x 12 x 122', an experimental, gallery packed group exhibition of 488 works opening on June 6, 2009. The show is composed of works on canvas sized 12x12 inches, spanning all mediums, submitted by 122 artists from around the world. Many artists have taken the confines of the parameters set forth within the initial Call to Artists as a challenge and have stretched those parameters to suit their individual aesthetic approaches and conceptual realms.
The purpose of this non-juried experimental, group exhibition is to discover and highlight new approaches by emerging artists and by those established artists who are stretching their work into unfamiliar territory. Working within the parameters of a format of 12x12 inches (30.5 cm x30.5 cm) on canvas has helped to sharpen the uniqueness of each individual work. The interior of the gallery will appear as one giant mosaic composed of the 488 works, each piece adding to the tapestry of the whole.
Artists in the '12 x 12 x 122' show receive 75% of the sale of their work so it is a great opportunity to support emerging artists while experiencing a very different take on what an exhibition of works on canvas might be.
